The Diplomatic World Institute (DWI), headquartered in Brussels, is an independent international platform dedicated to fostering dialogue and cooperation at the intersection of diplomacy, international business, economics, investment, finance, health, technology, culture and sustainable development. Through its international network, DWI brings together representatives of governments, diplomatic missions, international institutions, business leaders, investors, financial stakeholders, experts and cultural organizations with the objective of encouraging meaningful international cooperation.

DWI’s work is founded on the principle that contemporary economic and diplomatic challenges increasingly require cooperation between the public and private sectors and between institutions from different regions of the world. The Institute therefore seeks to create platforms through which governments and international partners can exchange views, identify common interests and explore practical opportunities for cooperation.

Its activities include the organization and support of high-level international conferences, diplomatic and business forums, institutional meetings, cultural and economic events, strategic dialogues and international networking  initiatives. These activities provide opportunities for decision-makers, diplomatic representatives, business communities, investors and other stakeholders to establish relationships and examine areas of mutual interest.

An important dimension of DWI’s international activity is the facilitation of connections between countries and international economic actors. Where appropriate, DWI can assist in bringing together governmental representatives, business organizations, investors, financial institutions, technology partners, developmentoriented organizations and other relevant stakeholders. DWI’s role is principally to facilitate dialogue, establish connections and help identify potential areas of cooperation; any specific investment or project remains subject to independent due diligence, negotiation and the applicable  governmental and regulatory procedures.

DWI’s areas of interest extend across a broad range of economic and development sectors, including sustainable economic development, international investment, infrastructure, innovation and technology, tourism, trade, cultural diplomacy, nation branding, special economic zones, public-private cooperation and other initiatives capable of strengthening international economic and institutional relations.

Through its Brussels base and wider European and international relationships, DWI is able, where appropriate, to engage with relevant European institutions, international agencies, diplomatic missions, business associations, investors, financial partners and specialized organizations. Such engagement is considered on a case-by-case basis and according to the requirements and priorities of the country or institution concerned.

DWI also places particular importance on the relationship between diplomacy and economic development. In this context, international dialogue is viewed not only as a means of strengthening diplomatic relations, but also as a mechanism for identifying opportunities in trade, investment, technology transfer, employment creation, tourism, innovation and other areas contributing to sustainable national development.

The Institute’s international activities are therefore not limited to a single sector or country. Rather, DWI seeks to operate as a platform through which relevant international networks can be brought together when there is a clear basis for cooperation.

DWI believes that international cooperation is most effective when it responds to the actual needs and priorities of the country concerned. Accordingly, its proposed engagement with Bangladesh is intended to begin with dialogue and understanding, followed, where appropriate, by the identification of credible international partners and practical avenues for cooperation. The Institute’s objective is to contribute to the creation of long-term relationships based on mutual respect

• It is a sister to the Brussels based Diplomatic World Magazine (Holding) that can claim the status of a key diplomatic-journalistic medium and influential global opinion-maker.
  
• Diplomatic World Institute is registered at UN DESA’s Civil Society Database. It is an interface between culture and commerce, interlinking Politics, Diplomacy, Business and Finance, Economics and Cultural Diplomacy.
• It will be in close contact with the Embassies in Brussels, all Members of the European Parliament, the DG’s of the European Commission, the European Council, Members of the Belgian Government, Heads of States, plus a broad range of influential economic forums and organizations, leaders across industries, advocacy, consultancy bureaus and think tanks in Brussels and in other capital cities in Europe, linking to a global institutional base including bodies within the United Nations.
  
• It is the interface between industries, societies and administrations by creating sustainable partnerships and forums with specific focus on burning global issues like the development of Africa, creating cultures for understanding, innovation or global transitions. Also the creation and maintaining of a Special Economic Zone with strong Free Trade and Direct Investment connections, is of great importance
• All actions of the Institute target at playing an active role in protecting worldwide peace and prosperity. The global exchange of cultural and economic goods prevents war and increases personal and social wealth by acting in close cooperation with its sister institute, the Institute for Erasmus Peace Solutions (the Erasmus Institute) and with FEMOZA – The World Free & Special Economic Zones Federation.
