Created by Marc Bogaerts, the Human-Powered Vehicle (HPV) is a visionary approach to mobility that puts people at the heart of technology.
The HPV transforms natural human movement through activities such as cycling, running and swimming into mechanical energy that can propel the vehicle. Through innovative mechanical systems, energy harvesting and ergonomic design, the concept explores a new relationship between the human body, engineering and sustainable mobility.

Marc Bogaerts
Belgian Choreographer · Artistic Director · Creative Visionary
Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Marc Bogaerts is an internationally active choreographer and artistic director, now based in Berlin. His career began in 1975 with the Royal Ballet of Flanders, where he worked as both a dancer and choreographer. From 1982 to 1993, he lived and worked in New York, performing as a guest artist with leading figures including Merce Cunningham, Trisha Brown and Laura Dean, while also teaching at the Actors Studio and developing socially engaged artistic projects. Throughout his international career, Bogaerts has worked with more than 50 dance, opera and circus companies, creating interdisciplinary productions that bring together dance, sport, theatre, music and other forms of physical expression. His work has included productions for Berlin’s three major opera houses and projects presented internationally.
Bogaerts have also done a lot of collaborations with sports organizations and sports events, including several Olympic training centers, the Rotterdam Sport Congress, FIG-Gala (Ghent 2006), the Flemish Sport Prize Awards (Brussels, 2006), and the Ghent Sports Arena. Among other things, he choreographed skate dancers for the opening of the Pan American Games. The multi dance project “De koninginnen van de nacht”, created by Bogaerts, included performances by karate World Champion Tina Bellemans and boxer Bill Richardson. Today, Marc Bogaerts continues to explore the connection between movement, sport, art, technology and human interaction. His work with the Human-Powered Vehicle reflects this philosophy, transforming human movement and energy into an innovative platform for sustainable mobility and shared experience.
